About Sara Nursing College

Sara Nursing College was established in the year 1995 with an aim to provide quality nursing education and prepare excellent Nurses with a specialized body of knowledge and expertise. It offers various programmes.

It begins school of nursing with 20 students for General Nursing and Midwifery program & B.Sc Nursing program with 50 students. It is recognized by Indian Nursing Council and affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University Chennai. During 2005, we upgraded the Nursing course to Post Graduation with annual intake of 8 students in the area of Medical surgical Nursing, & Obstetric and Gynaecology Nursing. Later by 2007 sanctioned strength enhanced to 16 with the addition of one more specialties – Psychiatric Nursing.

Philosophy

Nursing is a dynamic process that is both an art and science. The philosophy reflects the beliefs of the nursing faculty regarding nursing, people,education and the environment.

We believe that the purpose of nursing is to assist people who are experiencing limitations in their ability to care for them, to promote, sustain and maintain life and health recover from disease or injury and or cope with their effects.

The college of Nursing prepares quality nurse health care providers through excellence in education, research, clinical practice, leadership, administration and health care policy. Graduates collaborate with other professionals and consumers in the delivery of safe holistic health care and advocate for the improvement of that outcome. The faculty believes learning is a continuance life long process and personal responsibility. Students are actively engaged in the learning process to acquire clinical proficiency and to be socialized in to professional roles. Learning experiences are implemented to achieve sequence, continuity and synthesis of knowledge and expertise – as defined by the educational outcomes. Teaching and learning are dynamic processes involving curriculum evaluation and revision based on research evidence..

We prepare nurses who care for individuals, families and communities in promoting that, reducing risk, preventing disease, managing illness and supporting clients in all phases of living and dying. This process is based on unique knowledge skills and attitudes that incorporate the professional values of caring, respect and a commitment to social justice. With support for the dignity of the individual, advocacy for one’s right to self – determined care as an individual family members and members of society.
